Applying Mirror Film to HR++ Glass

Mirror film can be applied to all types of single and double glazing. However, there is an exception for HR glass. If you have HR glass, you must always apply the mirror film to the outside of the HR glass. HR glass includes HR, HR+, HR++, and HR+++ glass. The latter is more commonly known as triple glazing. Since HR glass has a coating between the panes, the mirror window film should not be applied to the inside. The coating and the mirror window film counteract each other. Both the coating and the mirror film have heat-reducing properties. The coating does this to a lesser extent than the mirror adhesive film, resulting in uneven heat distribution within the HR glass. This can lead to thermal breakage in the HR glass. Thermal breakage means that the glass cracks. This can be an expensive issue when it comes to replacing the glass. You can easily avoid thermal breakage by applying the mirror adhesive film to the outside of the HR glass.
